The development of the green cosmetics provoked the change in customers’ perception of cosmetics. Citizens are aware of environmental issues and they want to find ecological solutions for products and services they need.

But, wait!

This is easier said than done. They added that despite finding it difficult to evaluate credibility of such claims, most consumers look up to social media influencers and more so Beauty vloggers.

But are these influencers credible enough in assessing the sustainability of cosmetic products?

Beauty vloggers have taken their roles as key influencers in the beauty niche. Due to their specialization in the product review, they influence the consumer buying behaviour. However, their concentration is set more on looks than durability. This results in a gap in how they scrutinize the green products. While working with them is quite efficient, they tend to reduce sustainability to its key concepts and elements and this is not without consequence. Rather than adopting a more skeptical approach to arguments, bloggers often accept brands’ word for it and, consequently, provide information, which does not seem to undergo proper scrutiny.
