Winter season is already coming. In Bangladesh, winter is the sweet craving time and indeed the time to happily enjoy the seasonal limited veggies. As the cold sets in, the body processes exert more effort to produce heat. Another cause of people increasing their sugar consumption in winter is availability of festive foods and other foods or newspaper-cut sugar items.

Before starting sugar-free diet, you have to clear idea of sugar types as this will help to address a sugar-related diet appropriately. The most popular sugar is sucrose and we used it in teas, sweets, and other processed products due to its table name.

Sugars refer to glucose, glucose syrup or dextrose that usually find their way to processed foods. Whereas fructose, sugar found in fruits, is also consumed in its artificial form as high fructose corn syrup in soft products like soft drinks.

Other types include maltose which is malt sugar and is present in bread and beer, lactose which is milk sugar and present in dairy foods, invert sugar which is used in confectionery products and the others are advertised sweeteners which include agave nectar, syrup maple or rice syrup.
